ISLE OF MAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ICT COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVE, Deb Byron,
To ensure MeGA is able to inform and be informed by the wider ebusiness community a representative from the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce Information Communications Technology (ICT) Committee has been invited to join MeGA as a Member. Deb Byron, Chair of the ICT Committee at Chamber of Commerce Committee and Director of IT at Hansard, is the current representative.
The ICT Committee’s Mission is to contribute to the future prosperity of the Isle of Man and the Chamber members by:
- Helping to support and develop the Island’s existing human and corporate ICT infrastructure
- Promoting the growth and expansion of such infrastructure and the continued growth of a distinct ICT sector on the Island

John Spellman, Non-executive Managing Director
John Spellman is a qualified accountant and banker, with a wide range of experience in both the UK and Offshore financial sectors. John has operated at a senior level for many years holding a variety of specialist and major operational roles.
On the Isle of Man, John worked in various positions in the financial sector culminating in managing director of Clerical Medical International. With over $2 billion funds under management he was familiar with working with governments, regulators and big business.
In 2002 he transferred to the UK as chief operating officer for Clerical Medical UK. After five years in the UK, he was appointed managing director of HBOS Financial Services (an operating division of Halifax Bank of Scotland), John was responsible for the highest selling life insurance entity in the UK (employing some 3,000 people with c£40bn under management). He was a member of the ABI LIC and consulted on legislative change relating to pensions.
In 2006 he joined John Webster, an economist and established Island businessman, to form Webster Spellman Limited. John is now an Isle of Man resident again where he leads the continued rapid development of this already successful consultancy and accountancy company.
